Souk Cuisine offers you the opportunity to learn to cook as the Moroccans do at home. Cooking with Moroccan women will be very inspiring. An example of dishes you will learn to prepare are: Salad with oranges and olives Zaahlouk of courgettes Couscous with onions and raisins Tagine with 'boulettes de sardines' And a variety of other Moroccan dishes. The cooking workshop starts at 10.00 am and will take about 4 hours. We begin with a visit to the local market where we will buy all of the ingredients for lunch. We will visit the 'mechoui' and 'tangia' street, taste smen, buy the bread straight in the local bakery. At the spice market we will discover the secret of the spices and at the vegetable market we choose everything ourselves. The best quality! Then time to cook with the Moroccan ladies and it should be how they learned it from their mothers! They are very strict. Afterwards you will enjoy the dishes you have made yourself while joining Moroccan wine. The class will finish around 15.30 pm with the Moroccan tradition of minttea and homemade cookies. The cost for the cooking workshop is 50 euro per person. This includes the shopping, recipes, lunch, mineral water, tea and Moroccan wine. (Minimum 2 persons, maximum 14 persons per class).

This was one of our best experiences in Marrakech (of many). Highly recommend for anyone interested in Moroccan ingredients and cooking. Gemma's tour/shopping for ingredients was a great, no-stress way to experience the souks. Our kids (ages 8-12) had a blast. A day we will...More

Your day starts with a shopping trip in the souks. We learned about more than just food as we meandered through the souks. Each person is responsible for a small shopping list, but you are pointed in the right direction. Then you come back to...More

I was a bit hesitant to spend so much time on shopping for a cooking lesson, but Gemma made our day. The cooking lesson was inspirational but the strict discipline imposed by the directing cooks was amusing. Nouvelle cuisine can not be developed on that...More
