Leather tanning is the major industry in the city. It’s definitely worth a walk through this neighborhood.

Really mixed over how to review this place. Fascinating and a piece of living history but be aware the smell is pretty intense and hawkers are ever present. We were also locked onto by a local guy who "kindly" gave us a tour then led...More

I cannot add anything more. They are very clever. Took advantage of my lack of mobility and my other half being deaf! Led to a tearful me hiding in the hotel recovering for the rest of the afternoon.

This was the worst experience we had in Marrakesh which almost ruined our holiday and made us trust no one. If you've read the other reviews here, you'll find the same old scam story. And it truly is! The tanneries are not easy to find...More

The smell is absolutely vile. We were queasy for an hour afterwards. They got quite aggressive that we left. Our taxi driver had suggested this ‘very interesting five minute visit’. We felt conned. If you’re offered this excursion I really wouldn’t go.

We were caught by the scam on our first day. Please, please, please do not be fooled. They are not your friend. They are not being helpful. They WILL rob you. We got away with only paying 20dirhams - we were asked for 200 each....More

I agree with the above posts. The tanneries whilst interesting and rather smelly are not worth the hassle you will get in trying to find them and more importantly the sales tactics which are the most aggressive in Marrakech.
