It is a place to experience at least once. There are street performers wanting money, all sorts of sidewalk vendors with trinkets & food, and hawkers asking you to patronize their place to eat or shop. We stayed until 9:30 PM on a Monday night...More

I could write for ages , we were staying 10 minutes away so visited the square many times at many different times of day. It changes continually! from shopping ,to entertainment ( plenty of snakes and monkeys) to the largest open air restaurant I’ve ever...More

Not really my thing . Of course it's got the buzz and atmosphere but its charms are lost on me - find it a bit seedy and should people really be photographing snakes and sad monkeys on chains in this day and age?

Try seeing this at various times of the day and night. I cannot believe the amount of fruit being sold during the day and how they manage to sell enough to be viable. During the evening it livens up to be a busy entertainment location,...More

Its nice but couldnt rate it full because the fact that saw the monkeys on chains I really disagree. After visiting Ozourd and saw loads of monkeys living free in the wild( thats how it should be) I felt sorry for the monkeys at Jemaa...More

This place is so vibrant and full of culture. But be aware of the locals as they charge stupid prices for tourists. Must visit at night time!

Nice for people watching or evening entertainment. Watch your bags and make sure you don’t let anyone start henna or put animals on you because you will have to pay, weather you wanted to or not. Fun to wander around, or get a coffee at...More

Yes - you should be fine. Very busy but perfectly safe if you keep your wits about you. Have a great trip. I would happily go back and plan to at some point.

We pretty much walked to it however we did take a taxi twice to some other places and felt safe. You could ask your hotel to organise a taxi for you as that's what we did. But when in the square you need to be persistent and... More
