The walls are still intact and well maintained there are something like 20km altogether with the old gates still intact. Due to time it would take to complete the curcuit I thought it would be best just to see one of the gates and chose Bab Agnaou which if fairly close to other attractions. the walls and gate are an... We had a guided visit around these walls and enjoyed ourselves very much. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

Impressive walls surrounding the medina. Built from mud and stones and straw, they have withstood centuries of attack. They are regularly repaired, so look pretty good. Nice to do by horse drawn carriage.

There are 19 kms of fortifications (walls) around the Medina , 202 square towers and 9 different gates and in variable conditions . The Ramparts are an icon of Marrakesh and are noted in the inscription of the Medina of Marrakesh as a Unesco World Heritage Site . They are worth a tour and here are some tips to fully... More

So much of the Medina in Marrakech is easy to get lost in - one of the reasons why it's such a brilliant adventure to visit. Should you want a walk that you wont get lost on, follow the ramparts. Look for the beautiful gateways and you will be able to see either the inside or the outside of the... More

The walls of the Medina are lovely, plenty of parks and resting areas while walking around, a few displays around the gates to explain tourist a bit of history would be great.

Parts of the medina walls are pretty much everywhere, I wouldn't make a point out of touring them but some parts are a real pleasure to see. What I could recommend is bring enough water with you and beware of vehicles when you stop to admire the walls. Marrakech has a pretty chaotic traffic and many areas have no sidewalks.

Spent a few hours exploring around the Ramparts. Great views from both within and around the Ramparts. Filled with history!

I wouldn't say that this was an attraction or a must see but the city wall does surround the old town and you cant really avoid seeing it. The holes in the brickwork are from where the scaffolding was placed and never refilled. Interesting though and you will see the various entrances as you travel around.

We used the walls to orient ourselves when we walked to the jardin marjorelle. They are inpressive and its interesting to see some of the gates. I would agree with a previous reviewer and say you see them when walking around other must see sights.
