We stayed in a modern hotel in the centre of Gueliz. Not much feel of the Marrakesh you would expect, but everywhere in town is a short taxi ride. Nice place to use as your base in town.

Not a must see - its new part of town with modern western shops as well as Moroccan shops. Nice to sit in cafe and chill. Not really cultural center so obviously can be skipped

We only discovered this area on the last day of our trip which was a shame. We found a lot of nice places to eat here, lots of shops, generally a less crazy atmosphere and there is a large Carrefour Supermarket and a Mall with a food court and kids play area.

After the gardens, we walked around Gueliz and did a lot of window shopping, quite different from the Medina. So we were able to buy a few things to bring back home without the pressure of local salesmen. Very nice stores at reasonable prices.
