Don't forget the olives , dried figs, harissa pastes here . they are simply the best in entire Morocco It's available elsewhere but not as dynamic and fresh as here . Lovely square coming alive with donkeys visible on side ..little kids clamoring for attention and wanting you guide you . Stop to go to the vegetable market ..it's just so... More

We visited this town after a visit to Meknes. It is the resting place of Moulay Idriss, the founder of Islam in Morocco, it is said. The drive up was truly breathtaking. No photos can do this place justice. The town sits on its own mount and it looks the definition of picturesque. My toddler fell asleep as soon as... More

High up in the alleys there is a spot where you can see the center of town with Volubilis behind it. We had a local guide with us otherwise we would never have found the spot. If you don’t have this luxury the locals could maybe guide you to the “rue panoramique”. There’s not much else to see in the... More

We had a homestay in this lovely village. A walk through the winding narrow alleys is interesting, and full of character of a typical Moroccan village lost in time. Stunning views from the top of the village.

I got a bit semtimental as it is where Islam started in Morocco, who was inroduced by Moulay Idriss himself. The town itself is very pretty and i love the greens around the town. It is also near to volubilis. From here you can get a good view of the town

High on a mountain not far from Volubilis is the small charming town of Moulay Idriss. It has no particular attractions, except that it is a walking experience in a pleasant place

Named after its founder, Moulay Idriss, the town sits atop a hill in spectacular fashion overlooking Volubilis, the olive orchards and in the far distance, Meknes. Considered a holy city, Moroccans generally believe that six pilgrimages to Moulay Idriss Zerhoune equals one Hajj to Mecca. The main attraction near the main square is the 18th century Mausoleum, Idriss 1st's sanctuary,... More

The setting on a pair of rocky outcrops against big green mountains is beautiful. As you stroll in town you have ever-changing perspectives of buildings and landscapes and picturesque views of locals and their daily activities. Few tourists mean friendly locals, hassle-free vendors and quiet enjoyment of all this adorable town has to offer.

The holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is where we stopped for lunch and we had the best kebabs of minced beef and turkey cubes. The mosque is forbid non-muslim but it is worth a glance even from a distant. We got our henna done at the square by locals for USD 2 only.
