A fantastic way to make a real positive difference to peoples lives and get to see the real Dar es Salaam. The tour operators are friendly, well informed and are helping local small businesses with microfinance loans. We took groups of IB economics students on the tour and they loved it while learning about grassroots economic development at the same... More

Investours is an non-profit organisation who supports local entrepreneurs with 0% interest micro loans. Two genuine and friendly guides, Peter and his colleague, will bring you along two of these small entrepreneurs. Here, you will have the chance to meet them and find out more about their lives, business and future plans. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the... More

We spent the day with at investours with peter the guide. He started by giving us a presentation about microfinance and explained that we would be visiting two entrepreneurs who would explain why they had applied for an interest free loan. At the end of the day we would select which one the money we had paid for the tour... More

I love this place! This is one of the cheaper places to buy wood carving and other souvenirs in Tanzania. You can do a real bagain if you negotiat prices. It's better/cheaper if you use TZH than USD. I have been here four or five times, and every time I found something new and exiting. The sales people are friendly.... More

I was included on a small tour and felt the whole trip was well-organised but also very flexible. If we wanted to stay a bit longer, or visit somewhere on the way, this was an option. It was like a day out with friends! Lunch was good - a real local experience. I liked seeing the businesses and meeting the... More

The director, Peter Millanga, picked me up as agreed and provided me with an informative and interesting presentation on micro-financing and how Investours works. Then I was treated to a visit to the workshops at the wood carvers market, a visit to a ladies hairdresser and to a tailoring shop. We had a traditional lunch at Mama's and more shopping... More

When you land in Dar es Salaam, you can't help but notice that everyone seems to be working. Most folks are running very small businesses, usually trying to sell goods from small roadside stands or stalls, with some craftsmen and other trades as well. Investours will take you to meet 2-3 of these small business owners, who are probably earning... More

Investours is a brilliant idea that is implemented with great care and attention. See their website http://www.investours.org for full info. The money that you give is used in full as a microfinance interest free loan. After an excellent briefing by the Investours team on the project, microfinance, and poverty in Tanzania, you visit two loan applicants. The chance to meet... More

I am well aquainted with life in Dar and had read the reviews on this site and booked an investour for some visitors I had staying in the city. This day was an absolute waste of our time and money. Micro finance was designed to help to poorest of the poor and investours has a policy of lending money to... More

There are definitely people in more need than the ones we try to support. However, we are bound by the clients of the Microfinance Institutes MFI's) that we work with. We can only support those who have requested for a micro-loan with these institutes, because Investours itself is not allowed to disburse the loan. That's why we are partnering with... More

Fantastic experience, brilliant guide and a great insight into a side of Tanzania often neglected by tourists. Tours can be arranged often on a very last minute basis, and Peter the guided tailors the talks and tour according to clients' previous knowledge of micro-finance and Tanzania
