The most dangerous animals of all group together to be pictured, but the smell they can produce is a bit less, ask the driver to park upwind during the game drive....

If Trip Advisor had a way to capture the smell the total experience would be better conveyed. Also, the symbiotic relationship with the white birds was interesting.

Great place to get in close proximity with the African hippo! Safe place to get out of the car and take amazing pictures! Serengeti National Park

Part of our amazing Serengeti experience was a trip to the Hippo Pool. Seeing these monstrous, amphibious, herbivores in their slimy and slippery environment is a must.

We saw the hippos in the pools upon leaving the airport and visited them again on two evening game drives. Just fascinating how they are there with large crocodiles, birds and then the occasional giraffe which comes to drink.

Plenty of hippo with babies. Would love to see them out eating at night. They are magnificent. Easy to see how they can be so very dangerous.

We stopped here on one of our game drives and there were over 50+ hippos laying in this pool packed like sardines! There is a fence above the pools where you can stand and watch the activity going on below.
