Its a nice place and very relaxed atmosphere and nearby it has a picnic spot too.... but i would recommend to go early when Hippos are on the move before they immerse themselves into the water otherwise once they are in then you won't have that adventure. Kids will love it ...

This pool is a great place to be able to observe masses of hippos from a safe vantage point. The stink is rather over-powering so don’t go if you’re of a fragile disposition, but being able to get this close to such an interesting creature is a delight. They are fascinating! It was incredible just how many were packed into the pool and I would certainly recommend you don’t miss the opportunity to stop here. We loved it!

Hippo pool is an awesome place to see. Many hippopotamuses in small pool for the whole day. Almost covered with water but noses and eyes. They go out at night only for eating. Stinking smell if you stay for long time.

This was really cool! There were so many hippos just lounging around. A couple of larger ones got into a little grunting and shoving match, which was interesting to watch. There were several smaller, younger ones sleeping among the others, which was cute. It's definitely worth seeing.

If you love hippos you should definitely visit this spot in Serengeti. You can see the hippos very closely and hear the fascinating sounds they make. Thanks to our safari guide Beatus (of Angelino Adventures) who gave us enough time to see the animals and answered all the questions we asked and provided some fascinating facts about hippos.
It was interesting to see a dominant male chasing a junior male out of the pool. The only concern about this spot is the stinky smell of the pool. But all in all it was interesting to see such massive beasts in a very close range.

We visited this pool on our second day in Serengeti National Park. Our guide (Rich) from Angelino Adventures did a great job in explaining the behavior, food, origin, enemies, and lifestyle of hippos.
It was really fascinating seeing such big beasts soaking themselves in mudy water. One dominant male chased a junior male out of the pool. At the beginning the place is very smelly because of hippo faeces but after a few minutes you adopt the environment. It was nice to spend sometime here and i recommend it.

I didn't know I was going to love watching the hippos as much as I did. They were fascinating to observe with all their yawning and groaning, and crawling all over one another. I could've stayed much longer. The hippos are now one of my favorite wild animals.

I am glad we visited the hippo pool. My husband and I really liked it. Thanks to Angelino Adventures for providing us with a Safari guide who knows best spots of this beautiful enormous park.
It was very fascinating to see huge hippo males fighting just beside the pool. It is wonderful how those short legs support such huge bodies. We even saw four -baby hippos.
The birds eating some insects from hippos' backs were really nice to watch. It is so wonderful how such huge animals live very friendly with tiny birds. If you ever visit serengeti make sure your guide brings you here.

Make sure to see this place if you are in the area when visiting the Serengeti. You are allowed to exit your vehicles (since it also has toilet facilities) and approach the pool where dozens of hippos spend their days. It is fascinating to watch them interact, and you can get close enough to get great photos. You will likely only want to stay and watch for 10-15 minutes since the smell can be nearly overpowering.

We did our safari with Angelino Adventures and our 4 days in serengeti wouldn't be complete without visiting this place. I recommend you visit this location if you do game drive in serengeti. It's one of those place where you are sure to see animals because they don't move away from their pool during daytime. It was amazing to see Big hippos and their babies.

Je suis allé en safari et, si je me souviens bien, c'était à l'entrée du parc, il y a beaucoup d'endroits où nous rencontrons tous les hippopotames avec de l'eau, nous avons vu plusieurs endroits.
