This harrowing museum gives in depth information about the cruelty and appalling treatment of the Slaves in Zanzibar. It does not hide anything and is thought provoking The church nearby has an altar that stands where the poor slaves were whipped. It is a visit...More

The Slave market really was an Eye-opener. A Guide explained everything to us. It was heartbreaking to hear what these people (mainly Women & Children) went through down in the Dungeon. Many of them dying. Outside in the grounds of the Cathedral there's Sculptures which...More

This is not a place to come and chat or to laugh. It is a very thought-provoking museum and a sobering experience. Make the time to read all the exhibit and learn our history. A must for everyone.

Built on the site of the old slave market, the cathedral is definitely an other worldly spectacle. During our visit we found a choir rehearsing solemn songs. A must visit in stonetown
