Negotiated a 30 USD for 2 people boat trip to see the turtles and Nakupenda beach without entry fees to the turtle island, the place is very cool and I just love the memories I took my me. There is an entrance fee of 8500...More

We spent a few hours here snorkelling, swimming and looking at the giant tortoises. Really cool little spot and not any big crowds when we were there.

Really, it's all about the tortoises. The island trip was pleasant and made more so due to bumping into friends and going with some beers and ciders for the journey. The boat ride is good, the snorkling a bit pointless - it's dead with no...More

30 minute boat trip will take you across to prison island. The prison was the landing post for slaves in transit. Sobering reminder of the past.

The idea of this place, and the reality are two separate things. They're protected here, nice, but I must question the quality of life they have. Could be fantastic, but like much if Zanzibar, it's seen better days.

This can be an interesting site to visit but during our visit there was no guide to give us some history of the place.

IN my boat there were 12 of us from different places. If you wanted a boat just for two, it will work out fairly pricey. The tour guide included our entrance to the tortoise sanctuary, and for a few dollars more they will... More

Just walk on the pier along zanzibar town, there will be several "Captains" willing to take you over the prison island, you can bargain the price since you will only need the ride,
