this monument is a memorial to the soldiers of ethiopia and cuba in ogaden war against somalia. the central statue is nice depicts two men and a woman.

It is a huge stick going poof from the ground and in a beautiful color standing erect like a big ice cream collar I must say I was impressed even five seconds after the car passed the memorial statue.

Just a memorial that you can quickly see and move on. Many of the memorials in Addis are in the middle of traffic circles without much else to do.

I feel so sad seeing this Sovjet monument in Addis, knowing all the bad the Derg terror regime did to the people of Ethiopia.

You should see this memorial as it is one of the largest in the city. This memorial is easily reachable by taxi from any part of the city.

This monument commemorates the Ethiopian and Cuban soldiers killed in the 1977-78 Ethiopian-Somali Ogaden war. Although it reflects the communist/Soviet architecture of the Derg of Mengistu, it is wrongly associated with this regime.

Its a memorial built by the earlier military govt.in memory of soldiers who topled the Emperors regime.It doesn't have much significance right now.It just is near the Black lion hospital.Nothing much to see.
