First things first - doing this as a day trip in the wet season is a bad idea. It takes two hours to get out there from Addis and then back in again due to traffic and the rain renders the mud road up to the entrance nearly impassable....More

It is not far at all from Addis Ababa.. you can go and camp there or have a room(very cheap) in the guest house inside the forest.

This was a long trip on some bad roads and the end produced was not really worth the effort. An interesting place and the oldest in Africa but needs more than a little TLC to make me return.

Advisable with a driver (1.5 hours) but you can use public transportation too (3 hours)
