Great outdoor market place to get souvenirs/gifts while also supporting local artists. You can watch many of them creating their crafts including masks, figurines, drums, bags, etc. Probably more expensive than crafts/art elsewhere, but we went with a tour guide who helped us navigate away from the aggressive vendors. Can't say I'd feel 100% comfortable going by myself, but definitely enjoyed the experience an the souvenirs. One of the local vendors even gave us a mini drum lesson that was very memorable!

There are so many vendors with a great selection of items for sale. I found tons of great items for souvenirs! Beautiful selection of African prints and clothing. Keychains, fans, bracelets, necklaces and accessories that make for great souvenirs. There is also a selection of skincare items such as black soap, shea and coco butter. Beautiful artwork and sculptures too. I got two skirts from different vendors and I’ve gotten so many compliments about how beautiful the prints of the skirts are.

Pros
1.) You can pick up all kinds of authentic Ghanaian material, outfits, bags, trinkets, jewellery, wood craft and art work. You can basically do your entire gift shop in one place.
2.) The Center - more like a indoor maze of alleyways lined with mini stalls - has a great vibe to it. So colourful and vibrant. A good introduction to Ghanaian market shopping for any first-timer.
Cons
1.) You WILL get conned if you’re a tourist going by yourself - especially if you don't speak the language!
It’s inevitable as everyone thinks you have big money to spend. The moment they sense you’re a foreigner (which was the case with my British accent) the prices got doubled. The whole experience can be frustrating.
This time round (2018), I decided to take my Ghanaian friend who did the price haggling in the language, which I totally recommend. She told me that half the price they give you as a rule of thumb.
2.) It’s busy and you will get hounded to look at each stall and buy goods. With the heat, the mini maze of shops, and price haggling it can be a stressful shopping experience if you like to browse before you buy. Just make sure you’re armed with a bottle of water and your bargaining head on!

This is the first negative review I have ever given on Trip Advisor, but I wanted to warn travelers about this 'Arts Center'. It is a series of shops in a market area in Accra. There are amazing arts and crafts created in Ghana and these shops do offer a variety of choices. However, the men who sell here are demanding, aggressive, and are asking for prices that are many times higher than what you would pay in other locations. Though I have visited Ghana several times, I was highly uncomfortable during a recent stop here. I would recommend the following alternatives: Global Mamas (Osu, Accra); the beautiful Artists Alliance Gallery on the coast, the new Jamestown Boutique (near the market); and the gift markets at Cape Coast Castle or Arts Center in Tamale.

Warning. Avoid this place altogether especially if you are a foreigner regardless of race who is shy, polite or just wants to browse. I was expecting an opportunity to explore and browse the various shops. But what could be a nice market place to spend money and purchase nice gifts turned into just a street hustle to acquire my dollar, due to the over aggressive merchants who swarm you upon arrival. If you arrive by vehicle you will be spotted as a tourist by the entire marketplace. You will be harassed, hassled and pressured to try items. The price will be tripled and they will lie and say anything to make the sale without giving you a chance to browse, breathe, think or compare prices. If you come in a group, different sellers will attempt to separate you and entice you to visit their shop areas. Although I understand the grind of everyday business and never felt threatened. As a foreigner I was overwhelmed. I am disappointed in the conduct I endured as my intention was only to pick up some items for friends and loved ones while injecting money into the Ghanaian economy. But sadly, I feel conned as I almost certainly overpaid for what I received and unfortunately will avoid this place in the future and just keep my money. Some advice for those reading and doing business especially in Africa, refrain from the conduct I noted above. Provide "value" and allow the autonomy of customer choice and you will be successful in business.

At this center, you will find a lot of Ghanaian clothing, crafts and artworks at prices lower than those sold in the malls. There are no fixed prices,so it depends on your ability to haggle.A rule of thumb is to cut the initial price by 50%. But if you want rock bottom prices and you can handle the bother, then you could try the local markets like the Makola market.

Good place to get gifts for family and friends and was nice to see the products being made as well. Prices are very negotiable so make sure you don’t say yes to the first price they say!

Great market though can seem overwhelming at first. Apparently slated to be moved due to development of nearby hotel complex. Large area where people are making drums, carving masks and engaging in other art work to the side of the market. This was my third time to the market over the past few years and there continue to be wonderful things here. Definitely geared to tourists.
