We lived in Accra for a year and a half. We noticed the unique architecture of the National Theater soon after we arrived and anticipated that there would be some sort of events we would enjoy. We were wrong. We stopped in and spoke with the people who scheduled events. There was virtually nothing going on, ever. As Accra continues... More

Was at the Nationa Theatre, Accra, Ghana for the TED Accra 2015 event. I took an opportunity to go view the national Fontomfrom drum on display at the edifice. So breathtaking and full of history. the history of Ghana's musicology and folklore.

I've been to two events at the theatre and while they were great, the lack of theatre etiquette can be annoying. Be prepared for talking and regular use of cell phones during any and all performances.

Another venue with a huge potential that is seldom used. Does not seem to be utilised to its full potential as everytime you visit it seems there are more building maintenance workers and very few listings. Will be good to see it back to its best.

The National Theatre is a great location for the arts in Ghana. The inside is a little dated but there are a number of new commissioned art sculptures outside which are a beautiful representation of Ghanaian culture.

Good architect building, worth seeing and a big one, well utilized compared to most other buildings across. Events are held every now and then and people flock for these events and participate.

I have been there quite a lot of times for a several shows. It is nice, well decorated and properly air conditioned. The lightening is supreme and very powerful with projectors. The interior decoration is normal and the seats are quite comfortable. the Architecture is one of a kind but as time goes on it's loosing prestige due to maintenance...

I have been there a couple of times to see various performances. I must say that there is something about the atmosphere of theatres. So I always feel excited to go to any kinds of theatres. However, that one could do way better. Everything seems oldish. That place would seriously needs to be redecorated and refurbished. It also gets very... More
