The center has Dr. Dubois' casket entombed in a separate building. Next to it is a pedestal table with his wife's ashes inclosed in a glass case. Quite a memorial.

Visiting the home of this influential man was moving and interesting. I did not know much about his life at all, and left with a deeper understanding and much appreciation for his life and his work.

I first visited the DuBois Center in 2011 as part of my study abroad curriculum. I was blown away then. I have been back many times since then. One thing that really made my first visit was our guide. He was there only a year while completing his civil service but his knowledge of DuBois was impeccable! He truly created... More

The Dubois Center is an excellent cultural center that deserves a visit if you are coming to Accra. Events are often held to commemorate Dubois and other African-American icons.

The Center has a lot of potential but very poorly maintained. The books are crumbling and they allow guests to flip through without wearing gloves. His books sholud be in a climate controlled roomNeeds better management and funding to maintain the memory of a pioneering Africanist. Gift shop is a joke a few items and over priced. The grounds and... More

This place (like most tourist spots in Ghana) could be much nicer. All of the displays are faded and look like they were constructed at the time of DuBois' death in the 1960's. I had a nice guide, but the museum was very sad and tired looking.

So I am rating the W.E.B Dubois center on it's merits for use as a wedding/reception hall only. I was married in one of the halls here and held my reception at the same location in a separate hall. The owner went out of her way to accommodate me after most others wedding venues tried to cheat me because I... More

I have read the Souls of Black Folks and knew that Dr. Dubois started the Encyclopedia Africana, but I was unaware of all the many writings he undertook and was fascinated to see his library. The museum itself is housed in his residence and the remains of he and his wife are in another building. There is a lovely little... More
