I visited the Kumbali Cultural Village with a group of my American guests who had come to Malawi on an outreach visit. We went out for dinner one special Sunday evening 19th November 2017. I loved the way staff have been trained to welcome visitors and guests. They were so organized and extremely knowlegeable of what they were doing. The service was quick and personal.
To add the fun, the Owner walked in and gave us two free bottles of wine for my American guests! That was really special and will be cherished by all of us for many years to come. This is a place not to miss when you are in the Capital City of Lilongwe. You are assured to "Chill-lax" chill and relax in the gardens of the Kumbali Village. The ambience and collection of art and paintings is just breath taking. I recommend this place to all guests and visitors in Lilongwe. For your own information, I am a Zambian national with Malawian roots (parents) and now living in Durban South Africa. Enjoy it just like we did that special Sunday night.

We had our corporate team event organized here and it was a great experience with traditional performers, lip smacking food and nice ambiance.

Delightful premises, a small choice on the menu but high quality food and service.
Much enjoyed; a fair trek along a dirt road but I would say worth it.

The cultural village is closed, they only have the lodge that caters to events. They still mention the village on their website, so we wasted about 30-60' of our precious time getting there and away, missing our next tour.

This place is oriented towards the occasional visits by VIPs and seems to have zero interest in serving others. The narrow dirt road leading to and ending in the village is closed just in front the village without any signs upfront when the village is closed for private functions (often for many days in a row) so better call before heading there. Disappointing and uexperience.

On the outskirts of Lilongwe, bogged down with the hussle and bustle of city burdens
Lies this hill upon which sits a lodge, Kumbali
Kumbali, Yes, away from noise and deafening sounds
Away from the stench and odours of all kinds, unpleasant
On the outskirts stands this Lodge; not in the midst of the city but Kumbali
You won't be wrong; beautiful scenery, quiet and cool and inspiring
You won't regret; the only regret is for the not having been there yesterday
Away from the hussle and bustle

If you look for a peaceful place just a short distance from town Kumbali Village is a good place to start. Lot's of fun for the kids, nice breakfast or lunch as you like and in addition cultural art effects to look at (or shop).

Ate here twice, both times it was excellent and the chips are unique and worth a trip alone! The menu is an interesting twist on basic burgers, try the pesto chicken fillet, it really is amazing. Smiling service and an interesting venue, giving a proper African village feel.

This is a small but popular place just outside lilongwe near the presidential palace. The food range is excellent and good value. Service is a little slow and sometimes sorting out menu options gets lost in translation however the management are very good at customer relations and keen to get things right. There is often weekend entertainment and well worth keeping your ear to the ground as to whats on especially their full moon parties.
