The Fort in itself is rather unremarkable: rather small with few cannons in it. However you can get a wonderful view of Port Louis with the port in front of you and the residential houses on the side. The attraction is also free so definitely worth the stop.

Grew up at the foot of the citadel. It was a place where I spent my childhood and the citadel was our favourite place to play with friends. It's a marvelous place and the view of Port Louis is simply magnificent. It's an old fort for defense and observation during the time of the French occupation and followed by the... More

The old British Fort was never used in war, has been long-time abandoned and is now one of Port Louis' most popular tourist attractions. No entrance fees required, stunning views and picturesque surroundigs guaranteed.

Great views and peaceful place to spend an hour or so, but I would recommend a guided visit to know more about the Fort. There are no shops, no descriptions of the place, so a tour guide would make a big difference in understanding the Fort.

First stop on our guided tour with Marco and worth the visit for a slice of colonial history as well as orientation of Port Louis. Views of the racecourse, city centre, outlying suburbs and volcanic peaks.

it is not really the whole fort but just a part of the wall of the fort. The view from the top of Port Louis is amazing. You can see the race course track very clearly from here. We took a picture with the cannon too. Amazing view

In very hot days it is a really channanging task to get up to the hill and get to the fort. However, once you do it you will not regret. The view is spectacualar. Not much is going on in the fort, ever WC is closed and a bar is closed as well. Entrance is free of charge.

Just a small fort and visit only if you are interested in History. A strict no no for beach lovers, find a beach and spend time there. The problem is when you take a package tour, you should not do that if you are visiting for beaches because they will take you everywhere but a beach.

The fort is difficult to find, it's surrounded by narrow roads. The place is free but nothing sprains inside There is a free toilet and good views, but that's it
