Well worth a visit for the cultural experience alone. The rang and quality of vegetables is impressive, the herbal medicines fun, and the food court a great opportunity to share some local food snacks.

A place for all the tourists to visit. The crafts section was great! Souvenirs can be bought anywhere. They are prices thesame everywhere. Food choices are great.

The market has both food and dry goods. The Food Market shows the range of vegetables which are available in Mauritius and gives an indication of the cost of food. It is very busy and colourful with traders plying their wares. The dry goods area...More

This is a place to people watch, view a wide array of fruits, vegetables, spices, baskets, etc. It is a working market rather than simply a tourist attraction which makes it and the surroundings streets unique and interesting.

Bustling big market so colourful and plenty to buy. Lots of different food to enjoy curious as to how locals shop they all had Mauritian reed baskets to put their shopping in. Bought some lovely gifts for relatives especially their colourful scarves.

We visited the market early on a weekday afternoon. There are actually two sections: a fruit & veggie market, and a more tourist-oriented market. The tourist section has the standard souvenir-type items, such as T-shirts, caps, keyrings, etc. There are also several stores selling very...More

We’re there yesterday, there was a hell. A lot of people, everyone elbow you, and scream every 5 second. In a first five minutes my head was like a bomb, ready to explode. Souvenirs - usual as everywhere, same price, do not forget to chaffer....More

As a tourist, not interested in buying any fresh produce, this is really not worth a visit. It is filthy, really nothing to buy or browse and yes, just an overall waste of a trip. Rather enjoy your stay at your resort.
