Interesting tour. It seems that it could have been a bit more developed. Maputo still seems to be in the early days of developing tourism.

City Tour was booked at Agency Moz Tour Guide, the tour was for 2 hours, our city isn't that big after all. The attractions include -craft market, history museum, train station, the Fortress, Iron house, Independence Hall, Catholic Church and central market. The guide was excellent, fluent English and friendly. When booking a tour or trip the rates can be... More

Our ship docked at Moputo long enough to get a glimpse of this once glamorous resort for the rich and famous. It's intent is cleary to recapure it's former glory but the struggle is a slow one. Portugese colonialism is evident everywhere. Many of the monuments and attractions are under "Military or State Defense" and picture taking is strictly forbidden.... More

We did not feel safe in Maputo. The traffic was a mess. People just drive the way they want, and we have to watch every car to see witch direction they are going and also not be be involved in a accident. lucky nothing happened. Just keep your eye's open for sellers on the road.

I had the worst experience in this city, hotels were in dodgy locations yet so insanely expensive. ship tours are a nightmare, tourist are not considered as important because they don't speak Portuguese. communication was a huge problem. people who work in ports and malls can't even speak English, which made it hard for us to get useful information.

Tour guide was friendly, welcoming and extremely knowledgable. Mozambique has such an amazing history. The craft market has loads of goodies for shoppers, the train station has plenty of goods for sale eg:veggies and fruits,as well as hairpieces etc...

We were visiting Maputo on the MSC Opera on 16 December 2014 and had to be grounded for 3 days in Maputo due to bad weather. The city tour from the ship cost us $39 per person for about 2.5hours around Maputo with a guide.. I think that was fairly expensive as it just covered 2 nearby markets and sites... More

We went on a cruse on the MSC Opera and stopped off in Maputo. We took a ride on a tuk tuk. It cost me R150. We wanted to go to the market. We found out that the market is literally 10 min walk from the harbour. Don't take one. They took my money and did not even fetch me... More

Our next stop was Maputo, Mozambique, where we climbed into a small van for a city tour. Our guide had insufficient knowledge of English for us to gain much knowledge about the city, its history, or the state of the economy—other than it is suffering from the cutback in tourism. Even before we got off the ship, we could watch... More
