Maputo does not offer much for tourists - the Central Train Station is probably the main place to visit but there is not much else worth seeing. As visitors we did our own walk but stayed in the designated zone with tourist security. A friend had his pocket picked from a secure zipped pants pocket just outside this area. Don't... More

It is a beautiful place and you can´t miss it while visiting Maputo. It is very old and has an antique architecture. It makes you go back on time. Unfortunately trains are as old and very damaged but they are still working. A nice place to meet mozambican history.

For the most part Maputo is relatively safe however around this train station especially the quiet streets around it you need to be vigilant even with the police as they are pretty corrupt.

It has been known to be one of the Africa's wonders. The station has restaurants, which food is both national and international. Sometimes is used for Maputo fashion week which is an popular event. During December is visited by many tourists who fled the cold of northern Hemisphere.

The station was built between 1913-16, is very well maintained with many orginal features. For railway enthusiasts it is a must see. There is railway museum between two of the platforms.

It's a great old train station, you feel like you've stepped back a century. They had a nice exhibit of the top train stations in the world, of which the Maputo train station appears on most of these list

After hearing that this was voted 3ed most beautiful train station in the word we had to go.. but in reality it's not. There is nothing really to see here and there is graffiti and homeless people everywhere. We spent not more than 10 min here.

This magnificent train station has been lovingly restored. The facade is classic. You can wander around freely on the inside to see some old locomotives. My visit was hassle free which is unlike so much of Maputo.

A very basic over view of transport in Mozambique, traveling from history to present day. Some stands needing attention.
