Very Pleasant Island right offshore Maputo

The place to go if you want to go to the beach when in Maputo, as unfortunately the polution of the river Maputo does not permit you to safely bath in Maputo waters. It has an... read more

Inhaca is a beautiful quiet and peaceful island across the bay form Maputo. It has a fancier hotel and some cheap alternatives. The beaches right on the docking port are not that fantastic, but the Portuguese Island (Ilha dos Portugueses) just 10 minutes away on a local boat is fantastic. And the beach near the lighthouse is fantastic as well.... More

The world is discovering this tropical paradise. Miles of windswept and sand-scoured dunes of Indian Ocean beaches on one side, with seaturtles hatching by the thousands. On the other a safe bay to play in with mangrove forests, incredible birdlife, monkeys, bushbabies, reefs to snorkel, flying flocks of flamingoes flapping and frolicking. Sorry. Where was I? Oh yes, Such a... More

We went here for a day visit, was really beautiful and nice but the ferry is horrific if you don't rent your own speed boat. The island has limited restaurants and the food is not so great.

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth! It is a protected nature reserve and the snorkeling is amazing. There are so many things to see so you should try and stay for at least 2-3 nights as the Island has limited transport ---which means no traffic and a very quiet atmosphere. Check out the Lighthouse for a... More

The place to go if you want to go to the beach when in Maputo, as unfortunately the polution of the river Maputo does not permit you to safely bath in Maputo waters. It has an varied offer of good lodge accommodation for a weekend or longer stay.

Spent two nights at the island and it was really awesome. Very beautiful island with nice sites for snorkeling and just general view of ocean life. We stayed at the Nahyeeni Lodge where you have amazing view of the ocean and also Maputo City from a distance. The food is amazing and a walk on the island to see the... More

One of the best Islands to visit, as you arrive you are welcomed with plenty of sea birds, varying from season to season, you could spot Flamingoes, Pelicans, Hamerkop, African Ibis. You can enjoy as well the village where fishers deliver fresh fish in the local restaurants, that you can savoir at any time at affordable prices. If you have... More

The trip is not so easy as the daily boat is not available anymore, but the island is beautiful and very "roots"

If you're thinking of a day visit, please reconsider. You must have at lest one full day free of travel to see what this Island can offer. Catching the ferry over and back in one day leaves around 3 hours to see the Island. Don't expect drivers or motorcyclists to be waiting for you offering to show you the sites... More

It seems time stops, the beaches are endless and the people so nice. Worth a visit to the Light House - crossing the island is spectacular.
