It's just a drive in another African township, with poverty written all over, nothing in particular to do or place to visit. Typically a none white camp, sad to drive through and but it's the reality of nine whites in Africa.

This is the cathedral of BBQ meat and eating. You will always leave wanting to come back. Its one of the biggest equalizers in Windhoek as people from different backgrounds converge for the agenda of meat

We went there on our own, local taxi for 10 NAD per person one way. We spent about an hour wandering around the market, which looked interesting and authentic. Recommended

We had a most informative 5-hour private tour of Katutura Township on our second day in Namibia. Our Namibian guide was a well-educated young man who explained much about Namibia, as will as showing us the township and explaining its expansion. He explained how the...More

The City of Windhoek consists of so much more than most visitors realize. With enough time in Windhoek, the city's full history can be properly understood. Check with some locals and ask about the best time and locations to visit in Katatura. Other than the...More

The kapana is the best thing I have ever tasted....that's all you should ever go to that area for. Had a gun held to my head and my phone & wallet stolen. The police are absolutely useless and took no interest at all. It's apparently...More

Great to drive through and see how industrious the locals are in running many small businesses often many of the same right next to each other. It generally forms part of the half day City Tour.

We had a very interesting tour through Windhoek and Katatura Market. I enjoyed the taste of Africa- still do so at home with the delicious spices I took home. 🤗Take care everybody!

Definitely worth seeing how people live! Huge township and always humbling to see how people live. Stop at the market too to see food made and bought!

I live in the area. Even if you are driving your own car it is ok, as long as you don't have any valuables in sight.
