The Gibeon Meteorites monument in central Windhoek is an interesting sight to see. The meteorites are easy to find and also quite impressive to look at. However, there are a few things that could be improved about the monument. First, some of the meteorites are missing. This is a shame, as it would be great to see all of the meteorites together. Second, it can be difficult to find safe parking close by when visiting the monument. Finally, you need to be aware of your surroundings when you are at the monument, as there are some nefarious characters that hang around in the area. Despite these drawbacks, the meteorites themselves are fascinating to observe if you're in the area.

It's very easy to find from Independence Avenue. It's right downtown. Unfortunately I wish there was more information about them, as well as maybe better protection. I found them by mistake, took a few photos and left. I think they could attract more attention than this

In the middle of Post St Mall is the outdoor display of the Gibeon Meteorites, which were found in 1838 near the town of Gibeon, Namibia. They were interesting to see and touch but more information about them would have been appreciated.

We found it by accident and it couldn't keep our attention for more than 15 seconds. Unless if you really are into meteorites....

An interest display, right in the middle of a shopping district. There's a plaque that explains the history of the discovery, and a bit about the fragments themselves. Usually this kind of thing is behind glass in a museum, so it's worth taking a look at these. There's not that much else to see in downtown Windhoek.

Located in the heart of Windhoek on the junction of Post St. Mall & Werner List Street. Surely a catch if you are in this area.

We came across this display whilst walking around the city and wondered what it was. There is a sign explaining the background and source, which is interesting and quite unusual. However, some parts of rock appear to have been removed. If this has occurred without authorisation it is shameful. If this is the case perhaps some security measures are required to ensure that they remain in a place for easy public viewing. They are certainly not items that can be commonly seen.

This top tourist attraction lies in the town centre and can be visited by anyone and at any time. It is opposite the tourist information centre. The collection of 31 of the originally found 77 meteorites is impressive. In 1837 more than 20 tons or iron meteorites from which this collection is assembled.

I like the idea of presenting it for the people.
I am worried about the preservation, since many people like to look with their hands.
