The setting reminded me somewhat of the Voortrekker Museum in Pretoria, RSA. Great view of Windhoek from the hillside monument. The murals & statues and some builidings are banal kitschy North Korean styled and out of sync with its surroundings and the country's history. Our...More

The entrance to the monument is not really well marked. But you will know if you drive too far. After turning down the road, you have to pay about 20-40 rand to get into the monument area. Once inside the area there are rarely any...More

Worth a visit as it's been built by North Korea - yes North Koreans! Respect paid to important heroes of Namibia!

If you are headed out of town towards Reboboth, you will see Heroes Acre to the left. We hadn't planned on stopping but when we saw the huge obelisk, we were curious. The entry fee is relatively minimal and there is plenty of parking. The...More

This monument had very little to offer for what you pay for. There is an obelisk with Sam Nujoma, the father of the nation. The mausoleum was closed. The restaurant was closed. There was more to see and experience from other free places than this...More

We had planned very much in advance our Nambian tour, like Etosha and Sossusvlei. But Heroes Acre was totally unknown before we saw it when driving B1 to Windhoek. Entrance is... well, like prison or any place which wants to say 'turn around and get...More

10kms out of town. Taxi was $60 return off the street. Guesthouse were asking $250. Entrance fee for myself, taxi and taxi driver was $48. Not a lot there but worth a quick look if you are passing or have some time to kill

This is definitely a good place to get a good view over the city. It is connected with some steps (it is also wheelchair accessible) but it pays out to walk the whole way up. Also the memorial itself is interesting to see. It looks...More

You can but i would think it is too long a walk that is a few Kilometers about 7 to 10. I would drive there and keep the walking for at the Hero's Acre. It is just outside the built up area
