As always, going into the city centre of a country you are visiting gives you some clues about the country itself. Rwanda is a very clean country and the statement rings true even within Kigali city centre.

Rwanda has, like many other cities, embarked on a philosophy of "shiny is gold," although we all know that isn't quite the case. Kigali city is becoming quite the paradise for those few who can afford it, but a lot of it's old charm is fading away amidst the cold glass fronts.

Up and coming City Centre - a massive opposite to the countryside dirt roads!!! Plush offices and clean roads and pavements. The centre of Kigali is flourishing, and our hope is this will spread further and further into the surrounding countryside.

Just another street to me, but nearby is the hotel where they filmed Hotel Rwanda, worth a look if a film buff.

Charming place to walk - very clean and safe. The people are friendly and do not hesitate to chat to strangers on the street.

I has visited the same exact building and its quite mix of a commercial building and a mall. There are many options to eat, sit and relax, but i would prefer it that had quite more options for cafe. Place does have a traffic during peak hours but people aren't chaotic as you may find in other east african ones.

The mix and mismatch of modern and crumbling/timeless makes this a mini-adventure. Safe to wander, meet people. Careful on the sidewalks and in traffic!

This avenue is just a street where you will a concentration of semi highrise buildings. Mainly banks and government institutes, and in between a few shops to buy souvenirs.
