This site of the April 1994 massacre has been declared a genocide memorial. It remains a solemn tribute to those who were slain, the bones and belongings of the dead still lying among the aisles and the altar.

This is another one of the excellent Genocide memorial sites that one should visit in Rwanda. The country has done an excellent job in preserving some of the history as well as showing great respect to the victims and the families.

Our guide at this site was outstanding, answering many questions, despite the difficult story she had to share. They have preserved the site well, adding a structure to maintain the buildings. While deeply sad and troubling, this is an important story to share, and I...More

This site is on the road before Nyamata - it's harrowing and horrible but definitely worth checking out.

Alongside Nyamata, you should go see this site. It will give you a sense of how terrible the genocide was in this part of Rwanda.

This memorial is difficult to take in as almost everything has been kept the way it was. You can see the damage the granades have done to the buildings, the victim's remains, blood stained clothing and blood on the walls. However, it is so important...More

It's a bit difficult to get to this site ( there is a bus) but if you want to know the real story of the genocide you must make the effort.
