No hassle but just manic, hot, crowded and full of rubbish both on the stalls and on the ground. There are no rules of the road for traffic other than pedestrians should get out of the way!

From far this place really looks beautiful and attractive, but when you get closer you are facing the reality , where everybody forces you to buy something especially if you are "white" and beside this the prices are a bit expensive and it's very hard to find something of good quality . So if you go in Grand Marche just... More

Although not as grand as I expected, nevertheless, it is a large open air market. household items, handicrafts, bags, necklaces, almost 'everything' is available for purchase. It can be quite rowdy and the paths can be narrow. I was warned of pick-pockets. Bargaining is a relevant skill in this market and it is advisable to go with a local Be... More

Busy place with local food, fruits, vegetables, African cloth and of course souvenirs. This is difficult part as asking price cane be 3-4 times more than what you should pay. If you cannot bargain go to village artisanal. On Grand Marche there is so much pressure from sellers that you want to run away. I was happy with Christophen. He... More

You would love this place. You can get so many things to travel home with from the city. The prices are really good and there are always several options to chose from

First off, if it's your first time to West Africa go and see what the center of local trade is like, it's worth it. It can be fun, most things are from China and because Togo's port is the most used port for West Africa it's pretty much just stuff that locals use everyday. When buying African gifts or artifacts,... More

We visited this market as part of a tour off a cruise ship and it definitely lived up to it's description. There were all sorts of dried animal parts, hand carved articles such as masks ($10USD) and fetishes ($7-30). Better be better at bargaining than I am but I still felt the prices were fair. There were even live rats... More

One can shop from local handicrafts, clothes to almost all household items... It is a lot cheaper than buying things from anywhere in lome. One should take care of the belongings.
