Maybe it's the wrong time of year, but I was somewhat underwhelmed by this place. Not much was in bloom and it was full of young couples posing for romantic photos or giggling groups with selfie-sticks. It's pleasant enough with some lovely old trees and a fairly clean stream flowing through ... but I was expecting more. Also, those not... More

The most colorful part of the tour of this place, is the plastic bags in the streams. Sort that out and fix the pathways and they just might have a nice place.

I was not expecting to find such a big green forest close to Kathmandu. It was a 30-40 minutes drive from the city, 225 rupees entrance, and perfect escape from the dusty polluted city. We took a slow walk for about an hour and left some parts for the next visit. Great afternoon escape from town.

seasonal differences, for sure, but it's a quiet, sweet place… even if there's a school troop. and there are cicadas buzzing .. otherwise. quiet. :-)

With the help of a local guide we got to experience the bus ride from Kathmandu to the National botanical gardens. The bus stop for the garden is at the top of a hill. The 20 to 30-minute walk starts up hills then down hills. The altitude makes the walk a little more difficult for those of us who live... More

At this time of the year there was not many flowers. Lot of rubbish next to the way... Not worth the long way there.

The National Botanical Gardens at Godawari, just outside Kathmandu were disappointing. The gardens were set up in 1962 clearly with high hopes and laudable objectives. The gardens are well out and the lawns tidely trimmed but the buildings are looking tired and rather forlorn, much the same as some of the plants inside. Our visit was in February, perhaps not... This is a highlight of Kathmandu - especially to escape the dust and smog. The people of Godavari are incredibly friendly and will happily give you a tour without hesitation. Nice places to get coffee at the top of the hill and a really cool Buddhist monestary that will gladly take visitors in for a look.
