Located in an old palace, this shopping complex specialises in high quality, authentic Nepalese handicrafts and antiques. Compaired to Thames, prices are high, but you get what you pay for! The cafe is nice too - French/ Nepali food.

It's like a boutique mall, incl. a few restaurants, a gallery, a boutique hotel, and a cornucopia of classic shopping. It will seem a little expensive after Thamel, but the quality and surroundings make it quite a treasure. Popular with expats.

The palace is probably the worst damaged part of Durbar Square and it is so sad to see the damage to the architecture. Having said that you can still see the grace and beauty of the palace and it is interesting to look at the work they are undertaking to restore it. Still well worth a visit.

This is one of the fancy and reclusive complexes out of the way of the tourist trail, with some serious luxury like a Japanese whiskey store and a fantastic French restaurant. A good change of pace from the rather run down feel of Kathmandu.

I've been here twice now and both times, it was a refreshing break from the pollution, noise and chaos of Kathmandu. Lovely restaurants and shops.
