When in Kathmandu you must visit Thamel. The most crowded place in Kathmandu. It's surrounded with shops and small vendors. So it's a best place for shopping.

We had a great time walking around the Thamel area, bartering our way around for Nepali organic Tea, Pashmina & Cashmere scarfs, don't be afraid to barter, I was able to drop the price by 80% for some items. There are many great restaurants around the area, nice food, good service, great prices. We especially enjoyed OR2K which was amazing,... More

I never went to a district as loud as Thamel. It was so busy and loud with people addicted to honking. That once I came back to my hometown, I had a hard time adjusting my ears. But Thamel is too divine and mysterious, and that aura, that color, that feel, simply can't have it elsewher...

Every shop is offering amazing deals and great products, like trekking stuff, clothes, souvenir shops and other cultural products. It is crowded with lots of people shopping or just going about their daily business. It gets crazy as there are cars, rickshaws, scooters and... More

A major tourist hub of Kathmandu, probably the biggest one of the capital. Has so many roadside stalls with various stuffs, both local and from outside of Nepal. Good for evening strolls and some cheap marketing if you feel like it.
