Thamel is Kathmandu's tourist hotspot, offering bars and restaurants alongside a wearying collection of shops flogging singing bowls, gewgaws, t-shirts and swathes of 'pashminas'. This oasis in Thamel's bustle displays prices, origins and the quality of its wares. You can buy cotton or hemp textiles through to the finest cashmere - the wool that a pashmina is actually made from... More

I went to Friendly Pashimina Export several times during my visit in Kathmandu. Akemi and Ron (the owner) are so helpful and friendly. There are a variety of scarves with great quality. Nice souvenirs whether for oneself, family or friends. If you feel disoriented with the variety, ask the owner or staff for recommendation. They always offer great advice. I... More

Wanted a cashmere/Silk Scarf for my mom and ended up buying one of the more expensive ones because it was a beautiful mix between midnight and tropical blue. The owner is super friendly and helpful. You can tell off the start he won't try to push anything on you and has very fair prices. The other top rated Pashmina store... More

The shop is not easy to find but well worth the effort. I got our hotel to phone ahead and Ram kept a lookout for us (this might be the easiest way!). Ram’s phone number is 9851008304. Shop owner Ram knows his pashmina and was happy to explain the differing qualities and prices. We like how he was not pushy;... More

This shop has a lovely variety of scarves and pashminas, a knowledgeable owner and a calmer, gentler atmosphere than many of the street shops, which may be one of the reasons it has appealed to so many western shoppers (see other reviews). You walk into a space that gets you away from the buzz of the street where you can... More

My friends and I searched through the Internet looking for more details on selecting good cashmere/pashmina shawls in kathmandu since we are around the area. After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, we had a very hard time searching for the store. Basically there are no difference between cashmere and pashmina as they are both from the same source. The difference... More
