This age-old temple's name "Chih Nan" in Chinese means "pointing to the south" which indicates the deity there could provide you "guidance" when you lost your way in life and needs someone higher up there to point you the way. So visit the temple and ask for "guidance" from the above. However, keep in mind the legend has it that... More

Besides the beautiful interior of the temple and the amazing views, we were lucky to witness the peacock dance performed by 5-6 skilled dancers who, to the sounds of music performed a remarkable dance mimicking the peacock. The costumes, the choreography the music and the setting gave this 15 minute dance a reall sense of uniqueness. Inside the temple there... More

Is quite tiring climbing the stairs as the temple had many stairs especially under the hot Sun but is worth trying cos we still can see the nice scenery.

This is a lovely temple, located on the Maokong mountain. The temple is easily accessible using the Gondola cable car. The temple offers a great view of the area and lovely interiors to match.

Very nice temple, with a great view on Taipei. You can visit it see the inside of the temple. There are quite few locals trying to sell things here and they are nice (they told me to go to see the waterfall behind, and it was very nice)

A good idea to jump off the gondola for a short visit of these temples (there are at least 3 large ones). The temples themselves are nicely maintained, flashing with golden buddhas, and the view over Taipei from the terraces is nice for pictures.

Zhinan temple is not so crowded, since it is located at Zhinan Mountain, where a little far away from the downtown. I arrived there by the Maokong, and walked to two main halls. Since the temple is at mountain, it is good to have nice view of Taipei City, and also good to take picture of Taipei 101.
