Great way to get around Bangkok. They start very early and finish around 20.30, a little earlier finish at weekend. Boats are every few minutes. It is insanely busy at peak hours. Very cheap e.g. from Pratanum pier (this is the pier where you have to change boats) to the end of the line near Chinatown is 11THB (approx £0.25.).... More

This is a very interesting trip to see a whole new universe of life along the side of the Klong. Exploring Bangkok from the 'inside' by boat can be a lot of fun. Large boats serve as transport to office goers, smartly turned out, more than 80 to a boat, as it roars down the klong at an incredible pace,... More

We caught the boat after our tour of the Jim Thompson House. Quick ride. Literally hop on and hop off. Son was so happy with this. Have to be a little cautious when getting on/off. The ticketing guy comes around on the side of the boat collecting money for fare. It was super cheap and boats are quite frequent up... More

Fast - there's no mucking around, the boat arrive, everyone jumps onboard (YUP, really 'jump' as there's always a gap between the boat and the boarding place). The boat pretty much started when people were still trying to get on! My first boarding experience was pretty hilarious, I didn't know about the seating arrangement on the boat so I just... More

If you are staying within easy reach of this canal, it is really the best option for getting into the city to see some of the main sights. We used it twice from Phetchaburi pier to Phanfa (by the Golden Mountain) took about 20 minutes with one rapid change to a smaller boat for the last couple of stops. It... More

Krungthep Maha Nakorn(Angel of City) surrounded by hundreds of Khlongs, streams and the river of Kings. Every corner of the city sits on the water so getting anywhere is always easy to avoid the traffic. The jam might take about two to three hrs on the road but the long tail taxi boat will have you arrived in no time..about twenty... More

Take the local boat to get around town. Beats the BTS and taxi any day. Its super cheap and great fun too. A slice of Bangkok life. Super convenient if you need to go to Bobae market or Pratunam area. Average boat ride from Sukhumvit area to bobae market was 20 min including a boat change and cost 30 B.... More

It's quite fast and convenient. I took it from Jim Thompson's House to Pratunam. You need to get on and get off the boat quickly so that it would be kind of dangerous especially to the girls who wear high heels. Get on the boat and pay on boat and it's cheap. Be careful, the boat goes so fast that... More

There are a lot of skytrain lines, which crisscross the city. But unfortunately do not reach to the Wat Pho, Palace area etc. We took this local inland boat (not the tourist boat) to reach those places. This itself was a nice experience as one could see how locals in Bangkok stay and travel, from close. Beats the traffic too... More
