The small canal runs through the heart of Bangkok and is an important part of the Thai capital. Taking the boat is a good experience to see the daily life of Bangkok residents.

If it is the only transportation route you need to take, otherwise you should avoid it. The water is dirty and can be dangerous and slippery at the pier when it is raining. The flood can occur if it rains heavily. I suggest the Chao...More

All the reviews are true. Local, splashing canal water, interesting, fast, convenient. but so much fun. Our tour guide later told us that tourists generally don't take them because they are so hop on and off. Costs about 40 cents per ride. One one of...More

the boats on the waterway are great fun. there is a stop close to Jim Thomsons Museum, and at Pratunam station are some nice eateries, perfect to just sit and enjoy the scenery. A boat ride from Temple Mount to the final stop at Bangkapi...More

The boat doesn’t stop very long to pick up passengers. As soon as it is close enough to where you are standing, hop in and find your seat or you’ll be SOL. If you sit at the side, pull the plastic shade, so you won’t...More

Using the waterways is an extremely cheap and atmospheric way to get around Bangkok. You need to be fairly secure of your footing getting on an off, but this pair of 70+ had no problems and felt like locals. Avoid peak hours though if you...More

probably one of the cheapest and most fun is by boat on the canal. It works just like BTS/MRT with various stops depending on which boat you take: Golden Mount Line or Nida Line. Payment will be made while the boat is going to the...More

After we understood that walking in Bangkok is really not an option, we found out about this ferry. It’s fun to sit next to the locals. Wobbly ride, so hang tight and don’t open your mouth because of the splashing water (which doesn’t look to...More

Got on at the pier closest to Ratchatewi and got of at Phan fa bridge - 9 Bht ride as opposed to the all day tour of 200Bht. Take a map and visit the forts, museum, golden mount etc etc all close by.
