A fascinating trip through the history of Thailand. The path we followed (there were two available, each on separate departure schedules) started with a "boat" ride and a sound and light show of ancient pre-history Thailand. We moved on through kingdoms, wars and dynasties, up to the modern era. We walked through exhibits on life in the 19th century, then... More

Was lucky in a sense to be able to see this exhibit/ museum, I was not able to visit this time the Palace itself as it was closed as part of the mourning period observed after the death of the King earlier in October. The exhibit was an excellent explanation of the history and development of the Thai kingdom and... More

My kids love it and I love it, because it is an interactive musuem so it wasn't too boring to learn about history. Either you are Thai or tourists, the entrance fee is 100thb You can take 2hrs tour or 4 hrs tour. There's coffee shop up there that only visitors who purchase a tour can enter. In the cafe,... More

My trip to the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall was truly an fruitful one. It is definitely educational. I visited the Hall 2 where it shows the history of Thailand under the Chakri Dynasty. I have learnt how Siam evolved through time and into the modern Thailand. I also gain new insight of the wisdom of the Kings especially the current King... More

When I expressed I want to visit museum related to Thailand culture and history, I was then brought to this place. It was a good trip to explore Thailand history. They offer different tours. I joined the 2-hour tour with a radio head-set for English translation. At 2 locations, the head-set lost signal, but the tour guide stood by me... More

Visited the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall with local friends and was thoroughly impressed by the design and presentation of the exhibition. Did a 2-hour tour on the main route and as I was the only English speaking visitor in the group, the guides were accommodating and attentive in providing translations. It was an interesting and interactive experience and would recommend a... More

The best place to learn the history of Bangkok within 2 hours (1 route) or 4 hours (2 routes) and enjoy grand panoramic view of old city on 3rd fl coffee shop.

Amazing multimedia-driven museum detailing the history of Thailand, Bangkok and the royal family. Well-thought layout. There are 2 routes; each takes about 2 hours. There's a session every 20 minutes from 1000; however due to many visitors, some slots may be fully booked. So, quickly reserve your time slot when you're there. If you want to go through both routes,... More

The hall perform the history of Siam during Rattanakosin era. Its really great guided exhibition with the touch of high-tech, so you won't get bored. The guide was both in Thai or English. One of interesting feature is we can interact with some of performed items. So, bring your camera and enjoy the history of Siam.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
