Whether you are familiar with the life of M.R. Kukrit or not, visitors will enjoy seeing a bit of old Bangkok amidst the high rises of the Sathorn area. Kukrit's home has been preserved as a "heritage house," and care has been taken to display lots of old memorabilia in the three small traditional Thai houses that make up the... More

If you've been in Bangkok for over 2 weeks and have nothing to do. This is a good activity. I enjoyed the peaceful stroll through the traditional home.

This small museum is at first glance clearly beautiful- the collection of old houses from around Thailand which have been joined together to make a family home, the small formal water garden in the middle, the informal water garden to the south and so many mature trees which give you bird song in the middle of this metropolis. However, for... More

If you have a free hour or two and want to escape the noise of the city and the more popular tourist areas, former Prime Minister M.R.Kukrit Pramoj’s home near South Sathorn Road is well worth a visit. Although a group tour or a wedding party might be in progress, you can still find plenty of quiet areas around the... More

This place is fairly similar to Jim Thompson house, but without all the crowds. I was given a pamphlet with some information on it, but it would have been nice to have some people around to ask questions of and get more info from. Was a little hard to find the place.

This site is ok if your in the area but not worth a special trip. It's fairly small and a 30 minute visit is plenty of time to see it all. The entrance is only 50 Baht which is reasonable since the property is quite nice.

This house was a home to a past Prime Minister Kukrit Pramoj (1911–1995) of Thailand (Prime Minister 1975-6). The place consists of five teak houses, the earliest of which is more than 100 years old. The décor of the home looks to be from the 1950s- 1970s. It’s a good example of an upscale house from this time period. The... More

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
