The place has a very interesting story, but by now its only a gate in front of the temple. If you are in the area, you can take a look, but its definitely not worthy going out of your way.

There is not much to see as the Giant Swing is not complete anymore (the swing is actually not there so it looks more like a narrow arch), but there are interesting historical details to search (nothing written there, unless I missed a sign so...More

This is a big swing but you cannot ride. Not a must visit place. Take a quick look if you are passing nearby.

We went here as my local Thai friend wanted to show us. She couldn't tell me what the significance was but everyone goes there to get a photo so we did just that lol. I wouldn't go out of your way, it is a big...More

Standing amongst the Wat Suthat and Bangkok City Hall is Bangkok’s famous crimson Giant Swing; at a whopping 21.5 metres tall this distinctive sight is a must see. Traditionally, it was used as part of a Thanksgiving ceremony where young men, suspended high above the...More

Don't go out of your way to visit the Giant Swing. Not that interesting. The adjacent Wat Suthat is more compelling. So when walking out of Wat Suthat just look at the Giant Swing and take a photo -- you're done.

While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok,
it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn
the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and
most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to
this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off
their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most
spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to
Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around
