We went to the Fort (in the picture) in the evening when it was a bit cooler and there were plenty of people enjoying the adjoining park. Being next to the river there was a lot of activity and lights and a nice place to spend some time. Phra Athit Road is so close to Khao San Road but so... More

Wanting something different from KSR? Try the restaurants, bars, stores, etc in this Road. Other attractions near it are a beautiful garden, a fort, a wat and some fighting roosters under big baskets. Enjoy!

The place is always full of locals, but they will always find you a seat. The bus stop for bus 53 is right outside the restaurant, it is easy to find, but unfortunately... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
