The area
Neighbourhood: Chatuchak
Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

A great park to have a long walk or run in. It takes you out of the loud city and into a much more peaceful atmosphere. We even got to see a monitor lizard as well!
Highly recommend a visit.

Well manicured and lovely park. Lots of walking and cycling paths. Huge lake to walk around or sit and have a picnic. Nice bridges for photo opportunities. Lots of shaded benches to rest.
Very convenient to get to via MTR or BTS. It also connects to nearby Queen Sirikit Park

Although we did not spend much time at the park due to time constraints but did enjoy local cheap shopping at the Chatuchak Market which is highly recommended. A word of advice, explore the entire market before you start buying as different sections have competitive prices for the same goods and bargain as much as you can.

The park is much bigger than Lumpini Park and not in downtown, but access is quite easy from the Mo Chit BTS station. You can rent bicycles, and there is a 'Youth Traffic Garden' where kids can practice traffic sign recognition and following the rules of the road. The park has also a railway museum. Our family has spent a few pleasant mornings or afternoons. Probably only the Train Museum is interesting for a normal tourist, but it is a nice place to go and relax.

I arrived at 7.30am and experienced the local people enjoying this delightful park . The lake and the bridges were very photogenic. A vast array of unusual trees many out in flower blossom. The park authority have labelled many. Came across the famous Banyan Tree. I combined the visit with a trip to the weekend market which is close by.

Chatuchak Market is named after the park because it is right next to it. The park has a small lake in the park and 3 aerators move themselves around. Locals love to come here with friends and family to relax. There are playgrounds for children which is great. Joggers also love coming here as there are pathways around the park.
There are only two exits along the outside fence to a narrow street, which you cross over into the market itself. They are spread very far apart with a very long walk between them, north end and south end. I wished they had more exits along the fence as it takes quite a walk to get to either one of them.
On the other side of the fence, of the park, are rows of tables and chairs as open air restaurants with the kitchens being cooking stalls. Each table has condiments like fresh Thai basil, cucumbers, shredded cabbage and sprouts that you can add freely to your meals.
Walk across the narrow street and the huge market is right there to shop from.
Chatuchak Park is a really lovely park. The atmosphere is one of pure relaxation.

I have no idea. I didn't see any kids do this, neither I did notice any signs that ban roller blades... So I guess it's possible, only not popular there.

The animal zone is right at the other end corner of Cahtuchak Market next to JJ Mall... usually opens on weekends and maybe middle of weekdays...you can even get Tibetan Mastiff there...
