My husband and I grabbed a tuk tuk here and wandered and drank for hours. Found a irish pub on St. Pattys and had some great green beer with other travelers and ex pats. Great street food- had the best pad thai here on the street for 40Thb. A must see in Thailand!

There are lots of market stalls, plenty to buy and grest prices. But you really need to hangle. They so like to take the mick with forginers. As you can imagine. Just be firm with what you want. I recommend looking on search engines as to what you should be paying for what. You will be harassed by many people... More

We literally walked the length of the street to have a look. Probably wouldn't want to actually spend any time here - it's a bit of circus, bringing out some of the worst tourist imports. If you want to eat bad food in an Irish themed bar or get a tattoo for £10 this is probably the place for you.

What an amazing road in the heart of Bangkok. The street is alive 24hrs a day. There is shopping, bars, nightlife, slow day's. You also get to see an array of different things, like filming of movies (while we were there) lady boys and lots of them, street performers, people from all walks of life. Generally its pretty cool street... More

I'm 30 and stayed at khoa SAN palace which is right o the Main Street. Food is cheap if you have street food that is. Lots of options bar wise. Good for young people who want to party. Good for old souls(me) who like to walk and explore and people watch then go home and say "that was so Cool... More

If you are in Bangkok, you have to pay the street a visit. But do not stay at a hostel/hotel on it. We did and had a hard time sleeping because the party was non stop. I've actually read the reviews before we booked it and thought that it would be no problem because we have stayed at party-hostels before.... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
