This is a non-touristy temple complex. It is very elegant and unique. It was built on the west bank of the river by Chee Chin Khor Moral Uplifting Society. It has a quaint Chinese temple. It also has an eight storey grand pagoda. It is called Mahathat Chedi Prajonchatri Thai-Chin Charoen,. The Pagoda was inaugurated in 2001 to commemorate the 72nd birthday if the King and the 50th anniversary of the society.

Chee Chin Khor is a Chinese foundation that has been supporting the poor since 1952. There is a beautiful temple and a pagoda on their property, which of course we climbed up, gaining beautiful views of the river and Bangkok on the opposite bank. Definitely worth a visit.

Theres only a small road that leads you to this Chinese temple and there is a new building still under construction behind this current temple. Very nice scenery from the top level.

Altough in a central location opposite of Chinatown, this temple is almost unknown. To go there, best take the Sawatdi ferry in Chinatown and once arrived on the other side if the river walk around 300 meters. The temple is an interesting mix of Chinese and Thai architecture. It has a 7 stories pagoda from which you have a great view over the river; also the only place from which you can have a good look at the Wang Lee family mansion.

Not as colorful as most of the other Chinese temples, this temple offers an interesting pagoda at the Bangkok riverside. Not very crowded as it is not easy to reach. Very interesting, while it offers religious services and have virtually no tourists.

Chee Chin Khor is a charitable society, so a positive place to visit. The temple and pagoda were only built recently, but the style is exuberent and traditional.

The temple has a lot of nice detail and you can walk up to the top of the pagoda and get a good view of the river and the roof tops of surrounding temples.

In addition to this the surrounding area (khlong san) is a little bit forgotten, you won't see many tourists, but you will see real traditional Thonburi life and you will find several temples.

If you are in the area, make sure to visit the jam factory and candide / library for a tea or coffee.

When I visited I was the only person at some of the nearby Thai temples and I had a chat with some young monks who were cutting the hedges. I also had a lovely walk around the backstreets and saw a lot of traditional thai and chinese houses.
