This is an amazing museum about Chiang Mai's history and culture. It opened in 1999. Their web sit is a bit hi-tech quirky.

The display is presented in a grand old building with large sprawling grounds. Although it is small it is very professionally done and uses some interesting mixed media to provide a lot of information. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the entry price...More

Probably one of the better museums in Thailand. The venue is very nice and air conditioned. The exhibits are very well done and the signs are very informative (both English and Thai). This and the Historical Museum are both must see's in Chiangmai.

I had read the reviews indicating that most of the building was closed for renovations. Well, I could not locate any door open to allow me to even see the photography exhibition. Impressive building externally, shame that I will never get to see internally or...More

When it's open the Chiang Mai City Arts and Cultural Centre houses a good collection of local cultural art and heritage providing a good introduction to the area. Currently it appears to be temporarily closed. The building itself is worth a look being one of...More

We knew it would be closed from the previous reviews, but walked over anyway to take a look since we had been across the street at the Lanna folklike museum. The photography exhibit is worth a stroll if you're in the area.

It was a Sunday and it was open. Only exhibition was about photography. Didn't get to see anything else. I wasn't sure about the reason. However the photography exhibit was free of charge.

Less of a review and more of a notice to fellow travellers that the Museum (or at least half of the exhibits) are closed for renovations for a year. It was not clear when the estimated completion date is. Try the Lanna Folk museum across...More

Loved this place. Our tour guide was very helpful and lead us through many places. We enjoyed learning about the culture and the North of Thailand. So sad the King recently passed. The people truly loved him.

Although many items are in fact replicas this is a great way of finding out about the history of Chiang Mai, its architecture and culture. Housed in a beautifully restored courthouse and with excellent guides.

The building and gardens are lovely, well-maintained and held such promise. The displays are informative, well-organized and the ambience is very calming. It was also clever that they built it above an actual archaelogical site which visitors can walk down to. However, I doubt many...More
