We went to this lake today. It had mostly Thai people there so I don't think many farang (foreigners) know about here. Very picturesque and quiet. There are little huts dotted around the lake shoreline that you can sit in to relax and take in the view, read a book and just chill. There are toilets dotted around the place... More

The Huay tubg Tao lake is a very good place to spend half a day or a day or rest. Ideal to eat at lunch along the lake and share a special time with your Partner and / or friends

We had a fabulous last day visit to this lake. We rented a scooter in Chiangmai but I guess you can take a public taxi out there. Relaxing, good food and not crowded because we went on a weekday after a holiday for the Thai people. This is a popular spot for the local people.

Not far out of town is Huay Tung Tao lake and it seems to be a local secret ! The only mistake we made was to take a TukTuk instead of a Taxi/Red bus.. the ride out there and back was a bit scary as the TukTuk couldn't keep up with the speed of the other traffic ,but once there... More

Around the lake there are lots of huts on the shore and although there are many kiosks selling snacks and soft drinks, I recommend tourists bring their own picnic. Well patronised by locals on the weekend who go there to eat, swim, fish and ride in paddle boats. I am told it is quiet on weekdays. Entrance fee is 50... More

At Huay Tung Tao they have several restaurants around a man made lake (I believe the Thai Army owns the land) and it is fun to go on nice days for a long lunch a few beers and maybe a swim. Now let me be honest, not all of the restaurants are the same, I have had some not so... More

This is a wonderful place that deserves you to stay for an afternoon picnic and nap. I still can't forget the shock when I saw the incredible scene of the lake. Choose a weekday and ride a scooter there to enjoy a wonderland trip. This lake will never let you down.

This is a leisurely spot to escape the city with grassy glades around a large reservoir. There are some tables and floating picnic rafts are available. One side has some waterside restaurants and the drive around the lake is a nice diversion from town. Hiking trails go off into the mountains and I hear of a waterfall hike, but I... More

It is a small artificial lake with a lot of small bamboo raft restaurants located all around the lake. A small entrance fee has to be paid but it is all worth. Bring your swim suit with you!

Relaxing spot to sit under a hut and take in the view of of the lake. Entrance fee is 50thb for non-Thais. We had some simple good (Thai) food and went for a swim, water looked muddy but was cool and refreshing the afternoon heat. Easy 40 min red taxi ride back out hotel.
