The Three Kings Monument is the de facto city center of Chiang Mai. The statues of three kings united is a key moment in Thai history. It is also a major gathering place among locals.

These statues are a small landmark in Chiang Mai. Worth passing by, but not worth going out of your way for. The square was cluttered with the prep/teardown for some kind of event whilst I was there.

Before you visit, it’s worth reading up on the part the three kings played in establishing the old city. It is a monument to commemorate the founding of Chiang Mai. Whilst it only takes a few minutes to look at it, there are several interesting places to visit in the vicinity like the City Arts and Cultural centre situated immediately behind the monument.
Quite a good wet weather activity.

The monument is located in a square in the center of the historical old town. The monuments represent the 3 kings who were the founding father of Chiang Mai.
There isn’t much to see here. You can pass by and take a quick photo and leave.

Yes it is a monument. Look at it and go. The square itself is isolated and dull. Just do what we did, stop, look and go. You don't need longer than five minutes. There are no English information boards so read up before you go so you know what you are looking at.

The three kinds monument is found close to the centre of the walled City. This sculpture is of the founding fathers of Chiang Mai Kings Mengrai, Ramkamhaeng and Ngam Muang.
There was a local kids dance event happening in the square in front of it when we were there in January. Tons of proud parents. It was pretty cute! No entrance fees. Good photo Op. Spent maybe 2 mins here.
Nice short stop if you are in the neighbourhood.

I really liked the long ribbons hanging from the ceiling. It is best viewed at night during the walking street bazaar. Bring insect repellant due to the still water.

Monument does look good and I’m sure has great significance to the Thai people but for a foreigner it’s just a photo and move on.
It’s in a popular area so you will probably walk past it any way have aloof enjoy and move on.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it.

We read that there's alms giving ceremony here at 6am to 8am. Does it happens everyday or just during special occasions? Thank you.

Just to report back, I went at 6am and there were monks passing by. The were usually alone or two at a time. There are people giving alms to the monks and the monks will give blessings in return. It is not exactly a ceremony with lots of people in attendance, merely an authentic local custom. On the way to Doi Suthep after that, we saw lots of monks and alms giving near to Chiang Mai University.
hello! we're here for Loy Krathong, and am planning on being at this temple for opening ceremonies. I was wondering is there a cost to be there during the festival, and do I have to buy tickets or just show up to enjoy the festivities?

To see the actual monument is free. But for the other I don’t know. I suggest you do a google search. 😊
