This place is set within a meditation retreat. Don't expect gaudy temples. What you will find is a serene retreat with a beautiful Buddha at the end of a tunnel. And a huge ancient Chedi. Very peaceful very quiet very few tourists. Go in the tunnel and bow and make an offering to Buddha.

This is a wonderful and peaceful temple nearby downtown. You will discovered the Chedi with tunnels inside since 13th century.

Come to this temple on a Saturday to witness the new monk hood ceremony, it is the most crowded period of the week. Do hire a driver because there are no red bus to get back. If you are lucky, there might be tuk tuk to bring you back at a higher price. The tunnel temple is the main highlight,... More

If you have time on the way to Doi Suthep, you can stop by. If not, just pass by. I can see it in ten minutes.

Definitely worth seeing if you would like to see a temple which is slightly different to all the temples you have seen so far in Chiang Mai. A nice garden around it too.

I've visited this temple and for sure would go back to it on one of my next trips. A very zen atmosphere. Very different from the 'blingbling' temples that are often promoted. Very special atmosphere. Nice place for taking pictures not only of the stupa but especially of all the statues you'll find here. Untouched. Real. Worth a visit!

I manage to arrived to the temple by my bicycle.. I love that you hardly can see tourists.. Beautiful temple, not much too see but with a great history..I feel calm and i enjoyed my visiting here, as an escape from busy temples of the town.
