Picked up in a very nice minibus and spent 2 hours with a loo break travelling to the river. Had a great home cooked lunch and then we were given the safety equipment and given the gear. Lots of people helping and adjusting everything for...More
Did the white water rafting with a few friends and had a fantastic time. The rapids are quite tame compared to other rivers however our guide Robert made the entire experience amazing. He made the whole day great.

I'm sure there will be rafting at anytime in Chiang Mai, it's just how strong the river flow will be. I noticed you are only there for a few days. The rafting trip we took was a full day commitment, but worth it, because we got to see some wilderness and greenery. I would recommend the company we went with. (Chiang Mai wasn't quite what I pictured in my head - so it helped to get out to the countryside for an opportunity to appreciate Thailand's beauty)

I did the trip in July with reasonable water levels and mild water temperature . Slightly low until the rainy season resumes about October onwards. Boats can tip, we had 4 people on our boats and didn’t tip. No rapids above grade 3 unfortunately . If you ever want some really good grade 4&5 rapids definitely do rafting on the Nile in Uganda at Jinja or Zambesi from Zambian side of Vic falls
