I was at Koh Yao Yai in April 2017, staying at Santhiya Resort for 7 days. We only had rain twice, once was quite a decent storm which to be honest was quite an attraction, but didn't last long. The island is fairly remote and secluded from what I can tell. This is a good island to relax on. If... More

The only place we have been able to enjoy in Thailand without tourists all over. We enjoyed a private beach for a few hours thanks to Phuket Island Hopers. A paradise just for a few people!

This island is stunning. We chose it as it did not seem too big and there was not a "party scene" compared to other islands. I can say that we were not disappointed. We hired scooters and spent a whole day riding around the island. We found the people so friendly and welcoming, full of smiles and really helpful. We... More

This was our lunch stop place for our tour and was really nice as we had the beach literally to ourselves. Water is cleaned but not clear enough for snorkelling.

Koh Yao Yai is a realatively small, undeveloped rural island with a few hotels, but don't let this put you off. The fact that it is quiet and still retains its rural charm is what makes it special. The island is mainly Muslim so there are no clubs or bars although you can find the odd restaurant / cafe that... More

Stayed on koh yao yai island for 5 nights, at Santhiya Resort with my husband Island was quiet and Quaint in comparison to our previous stays on this vacation- Ao Nang and Bangkok. It was just what we were hoping for, and made us happy we chose this island to relax, and explore via scooters. Asked locals about nice beach... More

A short speedboat ride will bring you to the lovely island of Koh Yao Yai. Sandwhiched inbetween Krabi and Phuket, this somewhat quiet island is the perfect getaway for people looking to avoid the mainstream tourist routes. We stayed at the Santhiya (which I will report on in another review) so didn't venture out too much, but we did travel... More

Had a short visit to this lovely island. There are some tourists but not many - a couple of little bars, cafes and restaurants but lovely local people with traditional housing and jungle surroundings. Great getaway if you wish to relax

First time in Phuket and Thailand. Had we visited thailand before, we would have appreciated the solitude. KOH YAO YAI is backwards by western standards. The people are very nice, but no infrastructure. Nothing to see or do, unless you stay in a resort
