This is the Old Kings Palace which they have converted into a museum. The surrounding is good with cherry blossom gardens. The place is maintained properly. The shops behind the palaces are not that great.
The place has free wifi :)

The grounds are well taken care of. The house is in pretty good shape. Just 2 floors and a quick tour. Need to read the plaques in the hallways to get the full meaning. No guided tour.

It is nice to see Vietnam last emperor palace. You have to wear socks to visit the State rooms and the bedroom. Also there is a nice park to walk around.

We took a taxi from the city center, paid a reasonable entrance fee and entered a huge compound covered by trees. After passing around few smaller villas you arrive to the main building at the end of the driveway. In the palace, you can see furnished rooms and a lot of interesting information about Bao Dai, the last emperor. After you finish the visit, have a coffee on the terrace or check the helicopter nearby.

Having visited Dinh 3 & the taxi driver recommended the new dinh 1 which is very well maintained.
Majestic gate fronted the entrance with ticket price of only 20,000 dong which is money well spend.
Two rolls of flowers lined the stone path towards the villa which is about 200 m from the front gate.
You must wear the giant socks provided to wrapped up your shoes to protect the cleanliness of the villa.
The villa is a 2 storey building with rooms for the king, queen & others on the upper floor.
There is a studio room on the ground floor where you could rent the clothes of the royal family to wear for photo session.
The free toilets are located at a separate building behind the villa but the locals just let the children urine onto the grass batch just outside the clean toilets?
There is a horse cart for rent too.
The local cafe ( the larger one ) outside the gate next to the car park serves very good drip coffee and you could buy the coffee powder plus other "dac san" da lat from them cheaper than the da lat market as they are the brand owners.

Great fun and worth checking in with those that used to have it all. The palace is small but informative and there is a bit more to see and do. Loved dressing up as a King....

We learned a lot of history touring the palace and even paid a fee to dress up in their costumes for pictures as Emperor and Empress of Vietnam! Palace is well kept and the grounds well tendered. We enjoyed this place.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this Palace. It tells the story of King Bao Dai who was the last Emporer of Vietnam. The palace and gardens are beautifully restored and maintained. All the rooms are set up with furniture etc and information panels to tell his story. Well worth a visit.

Can you explain me how you could fine the Da Lat King Palace in Da Nang? You said you went by taxi...300 km...must have been expensive..
I've been living in Da Nang and I also made a lot of picture on that address in Da Nang...but there's no King Palace, as they wrote on their own website: it is in Da Lat!!!
Written July 18, 2016
Hi Roby,
The King Palace locates in Da Lat, which is more than 600 kms from Da Nang. Da Lat is a city of Lam Dong province in the south of Vietnam while Da Nang is in the middle of Vietnam. You can refer to the Wikitravel for more information about Da Lat.
