Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

This place is beautiful - so much so that everyone understandably wants to visit. There is a risk that the desire to make Halong Bay as accessible as possible will ruin the very reason people want to go - the natural beauty. But if you are in northern Vietnam - its a place should include on your trip and opt... More

Always love Halong Bay, the beautiful wonder of nature, a masterpiece of God. Loved the food, fresh and cheap, try to eat at the floating resto. It is part of the experience!

We arrived at Halong Bay from Hanoi to find the bay over cast and misty, the islands of which we could see looked so mysterious in the mist. Once we set sail on our dragon boat for the tour around the islands the mist lifted enough to see these hundreds of limestone islands with rain forests on top rising from... More

Picturesque scenery, like something from a movie! Films like Avatar and King King come to mind. Little boats, cathedral rock formations, birds dancing on the water at sunset, and thousands of little islands make this place a photographers paradise!

It is very difficult to give Halong Bay a rating because it was certainly a beautiful place but there are so many tourists there and it is so crowded, it kind of ruined our trip. We also had a very bad tour company that took us there for the overnight trip. They lied to us and never fulfilled the agreement,... More

If you are ever lucky enough to get to Ha Long Bay do the 3 day trip it is worth it. Just banning Kyaking for safety as there is a crowding issue and I feel they start needing to work on the pollution. The area is beautiful and a must see and do.

It is a lovely place with a wonderful view. Not only has a stunning view, this place also offered many activities such as cruising, caving, hiking n swimming. I suggested you to visit Ti Top island (which is commonly offered as part of the cruise itinerary) because you'll see the best view of Halong from the top of Ti Top... More

Stunning wonder of the world. Must go on a cruise to see 360 degree of the bay. Too bad they banned swimming and kayaking though

Appreciated the wonders of nature, so many limestones. great experience for everyone. You can have fun squid fishing or enjoying the picturesque view on the boat. Great for relaxing and getting off all the stress. Just disappointed with garbages such as plastics though but hoping tourist should be responsible enough to take care of the environment, not throwing their garbages... More
