I knew nothing about this area when we booked out day trip, but despite the few hour bus ride in each direction we loved it, and the ride was very much worth it. The lunch they provided when we arrived was excellent, with lots of veggies options too. Our guide, Kenny, was just great, and took us on such a... More

Mai Chau is good in terms of being quiet. I stayed in "Farm Village" and enjoyed food, traditional dances, walking small town and motorbike/cycling trip. It was fun, but this place is already commercialized. I wish to enjoy real traditional life of Vietnam's ethnic minority somewhere else.

Our Mai Chau excursion was probably the worst we chose in Vietnam. It took so many hours to reach Mai Chau from Hanoi that we were all exhausted and unwilling to do anything after it. We first ate together, nothing special. Then I chose to hike around the villages, to see the rice fields, etc. Yes, but, no. It was... More

I had been Mai Chau last week . It was a memorable trip. My sons loved to trek in here. They were so excited .We explored Mai Chau valleys and some villages.Although the weather was cold a bit but we felt comfortable. My guide was so cute and she spoke english well. She was a friendly and helpful person.Thank you.

My buddy and I were in Hanoi and had a few extra days to spare but weren't sure what to do. He eventually opted for Sapa and I decided to test out the closer of options, Mai Chau. Booked through the Downtown Backpackers for around $60 which included the transportation, accommodation, activities, and endless laughs. I only chose to do... More

This was an unexpected treat. We traveled by car from Hanoi to Mai Chau. Although it appears not to be that far way, it will take you about 3 1/2 hours to get there. So, start the day early if you really want to enjoy plenty of time in Mai Chau. The drive to the mountain village was spactacular. As... More

This was the highlight of our trip. We chose the 2 day, 1 night option. A 3.5 hr minibus ride from central Hanoi (long but do-able), with a stop off at a tourist shop and a roadside food stall with incredible valley views. Once in Mai Chau you are given a huge home cooked meal and 'check in' to your... More

Mai Chau is a rural district of Hòa Bình Province in the Northwest region of Vietnam. The district is located about 160 km from Hanoi. It was very hot in Hanoi so we decided to have the hotel find us a driver to take us into the mountains. They did just that and off we went to see Mai Chua,... More

Good option if you dont have much time. 2 day trip, light trekking, we had BBQ and local dancing performance great experience, see local markets, and souvenir shops but that performance made the trip worth. Although if you like trekking, Sappa it is more recommendable.
