The name is Silk village, so I expected to see a variety of silk fabric. But reality is far from expectation. Nothing much to see, all the shops are selling almost the same items. You need to ask for discount in most of the shops...More

Nice silks, but most shops all carry same selections, so very repetitive .. The nicer shops were quite expensive & no real bargaining .. Enjoyed seeing silk worms and the looms, but not much else to do. The little park nearby is nice for a wonder.

The place was really quiet, huge contrast with the busy preparation for Ted New Year in the Old Quarter. The shops sell similar things to Old Quarter silk shops but since it's so quiet, we had a leisurely walk and browse.

Arrive Van Phuc village I was impressed by typical manner of an ancient village in the north of Vietnam with banyan tree, well, communal house, and the sound of power-looms everywhere. There are very much silk with various products like shirts, ties, crafts, dresses…

No need to organize in advance. I got chatting with an amputee by the lake and she took me there in the local busses, which is the cheapest way to go. But any taxi will take you there.
